"I have been a teacher and professional artist in Dare County, NC since 1982. Art has always been a way of life for me. As a 5 year old, while “ coloring” with a friend, my mother informed me that I took the other little girl’s art and told her, “she needed to fix it this way!” Growing up in eastern NC I’ve always been fascinated with the way light changes the colors of the fields and barns. The textures, patterns, lines and movement found in nature can be found in my works whether it be landscapes, flowers, water, or someone’s beloved pets. As a high school art teacher for 30 years, I would consider myself a “jack-of-all-trades”, exploring acrylic and watercolor painting, pottery, and batik. As a way to give back to the community I weave at a local studio with the proceeds helping others."
